Strength Cycle: Open Cycle – Week 1
*We would normally start a new cycle off with a week of testing, but we’re just hopping right in the cycle this time, instead. We’re bringing back heavy squats and overhead lifts, again. There’s a lot of “unknowns” with the Open, so we hope we don’t repeat anything during the week that would affect our performance at Friday Night Lights, but we won’t know until it happens. So, hang on and hold tight.
4 Front Squat
(Start around 80%)
10-15 Partner Feet Throws – yea, remember those good ole’ things? We’re bringing back this cycle. P1 lies on back and holds ankles of P2, lifting feet and hips up. P2 throws feet at random angles back toward the floor while P1 resists.
20 High Box Step Ups – 30/24″ (S: Pistols)
15 Hang Power Cleans – L: 95/65; S: 135/95
L: 40; S: 80 Double Unders
*Cap = 18min. Recover during the step ups / pistols, then push everything else. Don’t take more than 2 sets on the HPC.
