Devon Callaghan

What brought you to DCCF?
I moved back to Louisville at the beginning of June and Sarah Tate highly recommended DCCF.

How long have you been a member?
June 2014

Did you play any sports in High School or College? Past athletic history?
I swam at Lakeside growing up and through high school and then was a D1 swimmer at SMU. That much swimming made me pretty uncoordinated on land until about 2 years after I had stopped swimming.

Who inspires you at DCCF?
Shout out to the 6am class, it’s pretty awesome seeing that many people show up at 6am every day.

Tell us about your CrossFit goals…
Some day I will figure out how to kip.

What are your proudest accomplishments in CrossFit?
Feeling as in shape as I used to when I swam. I tried all sorts of workouts after I graduated from undergrad and nothing pushed me to work as hard as I did when I swam until I started CrossFit.

Since joining, what changes have you seen in your life?
Most of the physical problems I had from running (my new hobby after I stopped swimming) are gone now and I am way more awake at work now that I workout at 6am.

What areas are you working to improve?
Anything involving kipping and snatches.

If you could have a theme song playing when you workout, what would it be?
Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy”. I think it reflects my love of working out in lululemon.

If we named a WOD for you, what would it consist of?
Wallballs, Power cleans and built in rest.

Are you paleo? Zone? Neither? Some of all? What is your experience with that?
I try to eat clean, but i’m also a pretty big fan of carbs. And Potbelly’s milkshakes.

Do you use CrossFit principals in any other areas of your life?
Sometimes I find myself breaking up things I need to do at work into rounds or doing them as AMRAPs.

What do you like to do in your down time?
I’m a big fan of drinking on patios and watching football.
