What brought you to DCCF?
A few years ago I read an article in Mens Health about this crazy new form of exercise called CrossFit. The article talked about the high intensity and fast paced movements and that was exactly what I was looking for. I was driving down Chenoweth one day when I noticed Derby City so I stopped in to ask some questions. A few months later I made an appointment to be evaluated and here I am.
How long have you been a member?
11 months
Did you play any sports in High School or College? Past athletic history?
I played football and basketball in high school as well as soccer outside of school. I also played one year of soccer in college.
Who inspires you at DCCF?
I get inspiration from everyone. Everybody works hard and makes no excuses.
Tell us about your CrossFit goals…
To not drop dead during a WOD. My main goals are simple to lose some weight, increase my cardio capacity and to enjoy my workouts.
What are your proudest accomplishments in CrossFit?
Handstand pushups, and finally finishing the Wods on my feet.
Since joining, what changes have you seen in your life?
I have more energy and I feel like I am getting more out of my workouts.
What areas are you working to improve?
Lifting techniques, Cleans and all the overhead stuff.
If you could have a theme song playing when you workout, what would it be?
Soil by System of a Down
If we named a WOD for you, what would it consist of?
Everything I am weak at: running, rowing, double unders and burpees.
Are you paleo? Zone ? Neither? Some of all? What is your experience with that?
Paleoish I guess. I did the challenge and really liked it but with a family it is hard to get everyone to change so mostly I monitor what I eat and when and save cheats for when they are necessary.
Do you use CrossFit principals in any other areas of your life?
Somewhat, I like the working hard and getting it done no matter what. That to me is what Crossfit is about and I try to apply that to areas of my life that I need to be successful at.
What do you like to do in your down time?
Playing with my babies and working on projects I have at home. I also enjoy watching UK basketball and being outdoors.
